This past Memorial Day weekend we remembered the sacrifices of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines – who gave their lives fighting for causes beyond their own. History decides that “rightness” of each cause, but in general, there should never be a question that our motive at the time, as a country, was the defeat of evil and oppression in the world.
So, I’m glad we gave prior political agendas a pass this weekend so that the country could thoughtfully honor individuals who not only gave all they had, but to those, among us now, whose combat injuries changed their lives and livelihoods forever. To all of you, thank you for your service.
Those symbols of tribute… flowers, flags and fly-overs … represent our handshakes, our hugs and our prayers.
